About The Combined Federal Campaign.

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

CFC is one of the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaigns, with 35 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season will support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. The Director of OPM has designated responsibility for day-to-day management of the program and to its CFC office.

Fundraising for charitable organizations in the Federal workplace can be traced to the late-1940's. However, formal authority to permit fundraising in the Federal workplace was not established until 1961. In signing Executive Order 10927, President John F. Kennedy authorized the U.S. Civil Service Commission to develop guidelines and regulate fundraising in the Federal service.Federal employees and retirees represent a strong, caring community through the CFC, dedicated to making a difference for those in need. Overseen by the Office of Personnel Management, the CFC offers the Federal community the opportunity to donate to thousands of participating charities. Learn more about the History of the CFC.

NJVAA Receives Grant

from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey

Trenton, NJ, September, 2024 – The New Jersey Veterans Assistance Association (NJVAA) has received a grant in the amount of five thousand dollars from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. The donation, made through The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, will be used to fund The New Jersey American Legion’s veteran service office (VSO) located in Newark, NJ. The Health Sustainment of Our Veterans program aligns with Horizon’s commitment to helping our members access the resources they need to manage their health.

“This grant from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey will provide critically needed funding to directly support the mission of the veteran service office in Newark,” said Thomas Dresdner, President of NJVAA. “The office provides health support services to veterans including how to apply for veterans’ benefits, how to navigate the VA medical system, and how to file VA claims. The office can refer veterans and their families to other United States, State of New Jersey, and local government agencies; as well as non-profit organizations with the mission to support the health needs of those men and women who served in our nation’s Armed Services,” Dresdner said. “The American Legion Department of New Jersey VSO in Newark is resource constrained. The grant from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey will provide sorely needed sustainment funding.”

“Horizon is pleased to support the important work being done by The New Jersey Veterans Assistance Association to provide Health Sustainment of Our Veterans, especially in Newark,” said Jonathan R. Pearson, Executive Director of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. “Health Sustainment of Our Veterans aligns with Horizon’s commitment to helping our members access the resources they need to manage their health. We are improving the health of the communities we serve by helping people achieve health sustainability. The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey works across New Jersey with grantees who share our commitment to improving the health and communities we serve.”
