Larry Bishop, a resident of Sayreville, New Jersey, was elected New Jersey State Commander of The American Legion at its 104th Convention held in Wildwood, New Jersey on Friday, June 9th, 2023.
Commander Bishop served two years in the United States Army, being drafted April 24, 1969, and discharged April 23, 1971. He attended Basic Training (BT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was assigned to For Myers, Virginia for six months and then to Fort Totten, New York in the United States Courier Service for the remainder of his duty.
He is a 35-year member of Sayreville American Legion Post 211, Sayreville, Middlesex County and will lead the State's largest wartime VETERANS' ORGANIZATION WITH A MEMBERSHIP OF APPROXIMATELY 35,000 for the next year. Commander Bishop has held several offices at the Post, County, and Department levels, including Post Commander, County Commander, Department Executive Committeeman, and Department Vice-Commander twice (2016-2017 / 2017-2018).
An advocate for Veterans, his motto for the 2023-2024 year is:

Will Kramer of Post 43 in Morris County grew up in Perth Amboy, NJ and after attending NJ Boys State in 1973, he attended the US Naval Academy and served in the US Navy for over 30 years active and reserve. In civilian life he worked for a number of major corporations including GE, Lockheed, BAE Systems and Textron in the areas of Program Management, Marketing and Proposal Management. He is now an Adjunct Professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. In his civic life, Will served on Zoning Boards in several communities and is currently a member of the Zoning Board in Morris Township. Will has been an active member of American Legion for many years and has held leadership posts at both the Post, County and Department levels as well has been a member of committees at the County, Department and National Levels. Will is the Vice Chair of both the Department Finance and Department Legislative Committee. He is also a staff member at both NJ Legion College and NJ Boys State.

Ed earned his eligibility to join the American Legion after serving six years active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. His grandfather served in the Navy in WW1 and his dad served in the Navy in the Korean War. Ed served in a variety of jobs within the Military Police field. Upon honorable discharge Ed was serving as a Military Police Accident Investigator at Quantico Virginia. Eds service included one year of overseas duty on Adak Island. Eds military awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Medal.
After discharge Ed joined the Westfield NJ Police Department. It was there that his police partner recruited him to join Post 3 of The American Legion, Martin Walberg Post. Ed transferred to Brick Memorial Post 348 when he moved to the shore area in 1998.
Professionally, Ed transferred to the North Plainfield Police where he retired as a Sergeant in 1999. After retiring from the police Ed was employed at Ocean County Government where he held positions of Director of Ocean County Consumer Affairs/ Weights and Measures as well as Director of the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau.
During his forty-five years of continuous service to the American Legion he has served on many committees at all levels of the Legion. He served for fifteen years as adjutant for Brick Post 348, as well as holding the office of Trustee and Commander. Ed served two terms as Ocean County Vice Commander, two terms as Ocean County Commander and one term as a Department of New Jersey Vice Commander.
Ed has been married to his wife Bruni (a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 35 years) for over fifty years. Their son Mike is a member of the American Legion having gained his eligibility through service in the U.S. Marine Corps and the NJ Air National Guard, where he served four tours of duty in the Middle East and retired after 20 years combined service. Mike has three stepchildren and two grandchildren including daughter Reagan who followed Mikes footsteps and is currently an active duty Marine and member of Brick Memorial Post of the American Legion.
